For years, I have done a presentation about summer music camps in hopes of getting as many students involved as possible. It is a simple slideshow with lots of pictures of the Illinois Summer Youth Music camp held at the University of Illinois. The advantages of this are that students who have participated before can share their positive camp experiences they with students that have not attended before. The students also get to see what the rehearsal rooms look like, dorm rooms, and the types of activities they will do. The presentation is chock full of pictures too! At the very end, I show them some links to other camp websites like Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and the Western Illinois University Summer Music camp. Finally, I save the PowerPoint as a PDF and email to all the parents so they receive all of the same info.
