On these two days, the students were finishing their
Lewis & Clark wiki projects in one of the school's computer labs. The remaining students rehearsed the music being performed at the culminating Lewis & Clark assembly. As a warm-up, the students played various rhythms on the
practicesightreading.com site. Brian Wis, my former high school band director, fellow blogger, and music technology guru, turned me on to this site. (Check out his
blog and
Facebook group)
The level of difficulty can be adjusted from 1 to 5, as well as the choice of either simple or compound time signatures. This is a great site to use in full band rehearsal, in a sectional, or one-on-one. There is even an audio clip of the rhythm that can be listened to.
I use this site about every other week because I am somewhat limited to only a few different levels with a middle school group.
